Classic Car Concepts out of Phoenix, Arizona specializes in classic car customization.  Owner Jerry Reid says “we make cars bigger, badder and better”.  Mr Reid was looking to do something different with his shop parts truck instead of painting it.  He wanted something bigger badder and better!  So he headed over to Inyati bedliners north Phoenix location to see what could be done.  The result is his suburban being completely coated, inside and out with our tough polyurethane coating.

At Inyati bedliners, sprayed in bed liners on new trucks is the majority of what we see; most trucks are less than a month old.  These days we are seeing an increasing trend of older vehicles coming in.  Most of the older vehicles are restoration projects and many of them are simply amazing.  Often times bed protection is an after thought, and so we have to work around freshly painted vehicles.  Fresh high end paint.  Not a problem, as we have 20 years experience in the business and have properly masked a truck or two in that time!  This particular 1970 GMC pickup came to us because the restoration team had a delay in interior parts, and so they decided to use the down time to get the bed “Inyati Lined”

A minor delay with the interior gave Inyati time to complete the sprayed in bed liner!

There are a couple of important factors in dealing with a vehicle this old.  Number one is all the rust must be completely removed.  Rust will continue to rust beneath the liner if it is not completely removed, this will cause adhesion problems later and negatively effects the structural integrity of the bed.  Number two is that all the contaminants on the substrate must be removed.  All oils, greases, acids, paints etc must be completely removed.  Often times the best option is to have the bed sandblasted down to the bare metal, while other times all that is needed is an extra hour or two of intensive sanding.

This truck was completed in an afternoon and the customer picked it up the next morning

Inyati sprayed in bedliners north Phoenix location completed a very special custom spray project for a very low profile client earlier this month.  The majority of our clients are pick up truck owners looking for a spray in bed liner for their truck.  But increasingly we are seeing more  custom and industrial application requests.  Our clients choose us because of our 20+ years of experience in sprayed polyurethane/urea.  Our one of kind proprietary material and our workmanship are second to none.

This particular project was extremely detailed in it’s scope and technical requirements.  The biggest requirement being client confidentiality.  So with that in mind, here’s what we can tell you.  We sprayed the interior floor of the Suburban from behind the front seats to the back door.  There were a number of items that needed to sprayed, and others that need to remain un coated.  There was additional work to be done to the outside of the vehicle (which we can’t show you), and it all had to be completed in one day!

At Inyati bedliners we get asked quite often if we can spray the rear wheel wells on pick up trucks.  The answer is yes!  Customers tell us they don’t like the look of the paint in the rear wheel wells, it doesn’t match the front which come with a factory liner.  We have to agree, having the front and back match and also reducing the glare of bright white paint in the wheel wells is a good idea and getting Inyati to spray the wells is a great idea!

The best way to have this type of work completed is when we are spraying in your bedliner because most of the truck is being masked off anyways.  The job takes a little extra time, as the wheels need to be masked while the vehicle is in the spray booth, and extra wire trim needs to be applied to give the edges that nice clean look.  Rear wheel wells can be added for $150 when getting a bedliner or $300 just by themselves.

The custom Hummer H1 Project we completed for Predator Rides was definitely one of the more extreme projects we’ve worked on.  The client wanted the entire outside of the vehicle coated with our tough polyurethane coating.  He could have just got a regular paint job, but was looking for something completely different, something that no body else would have.  We scheduled drop off at Inyati Sprayed in Bedliners Chandler, Arizona location because of the oversize spray booth.  H1′s are significantly wider than your average vehicle and would be extremely difficult to spray in a regular spray booth.

The first step in the project was to remove the lights as the client was going to have them painted black aswell.  As you might notice from the first picture in the gallery below the client is a member of our armed forces (more on his story later)

The next step was to apply the wire trim.  Wire trim is a sharp metal wire attached to a narrow roll of tape.  After the spray job is complete the wire is pulled which creates a cut in the material, giving it the nice clean lines and edges.

After the wire trim was applied, the rest of the paper, plastic and tape masking was completed.  The hood was lifted up and the entire engine was masked off.

Next up was surface prep.  The surface was sanded down to create mechanical bonding, and then the surface was prepped with our proprietary blended de-greaser/adhesion promoter.  This blend helps create chemical bonding.

The Hummer was then backed into the booth where we continued masking off the wheels, undercarriage and driver windows.

The spraying was completed in roughly 30 minutes, and after the bedliner material was applied a 2nd Ultra Violet Top Coat material was applied to keep the liner looking new for years to come.

One of the more unusual jobs last month was this glass delivery truck.  The client needed the rear bumper and diamond plate floor sprayed.  The client was on a deadline to deliver this vehicle to their customer so they could put it on the road delivering glass right away.  We completed this job on same day service.

P.A.G. and their sister companies OR-Fab and Trail Master Suspension were rushing to complete their modified 1996 Jeep Cherokee XJ for upcoming shows and off-road events and needed Inyati to complete some highly specialized custom spray work in a short period of time.

The Jeep was transported by trailer to Inyati sprayed in Bedliner’s Chandler location,  where we complete most of our custom spray job requests.  Once there,  we went over the details and marked off specific areas they needed sprayed.  The outside of the Jeep needed to be sprayed from just beneath the windows down, as well as the custom steel running boards, wheel wells, rear hatch, door sills and the rear part of the interior.

Inyati  got to work right away by beginning prep work on all the surfaces.  We used an air hose to remove dust and debris, and then used a specialized degreaser/adhesion promoter on the surface.

Next we applied  wire trim line  which is used to create the nice clean lines that separate sprayed areas from non sprayed areas.  In the early days of sprayed in bedliners many shops had to trim by hand with box cutters!

After the wire trim was applied, the rest of the masking job could be completed.  Any areas not being sprayed must be masked off, otherwise they will be covered in over-spray.

Next, we sanded down the surface with 80 grit sandpaper, and then re-wiped it with the degreaser/adhesion promoter.

The Jeep was backed into the booth, and the Inyati spray technician sprayed the interior of the Jeep first, then closed the hatch, and sprayed the outside.

The final step was to pull the Jeep out of the spray booth, and remove all of the masking.

Removing the bed bolts will save you a lot of money in the long run!

It is important to remove the bed bolts, and NOT spray over them because should your truck need any drive train or fuel system work, the mechanic is going to need to lift the bed to gain access.  In order to lift the bed the mechanic is going to need to remove the bolts.  If your bolts are sprayed over, then the mechanic is going to use a hammer and chisel and chip off the liner to get to the bolts!

We get a lot of calls from mechanics and body shops asking for advice on how to repair this damage, which is not covered under warranty.  Repairs of this nature usually cost several hundred dollars

If the original installer had just taken a few minutes to remove and re-install the bolts, none of this would have happened.
